Job Summary Principal Accountabilities · Execute time studies (stopwatch, line balancing, and standard work) and consolidate results using standardized templates for Industrial Engineers. · Collect, process, and analyze capacity data (equipment and lines) and Direct Labor performance data, supporting headcount calculations, CPH/UPH, and takt/rate analysis. · Monitor, record, and analyze downtime in systems (e.g., FlexFlow, Downtime Tracker, Mamut), generating reports with root causes, impacts, and corrective actions. · Prepare, assemble, and/or adapt simple jigs, fixtures, and mockups (moonshine) to support station improvements, prioritizing ergonomics, quality, and safety; support try-outs and validations. · Support Kaizen events (setup reduction, flow, 5S, standardization, visual management): data collection, time studies, measurements, “as-is/to-be” mapping, action follow-up, and control plans. · Develop and maintain technical documentation: standardized work instructions (SW), cell/line layouts, process sheets, data collection forms, and reports with numerical and graphical analysis. · Configure, execute, and document capacity tests/studies and small simulations based on objectives defined by Industrial Engineers, recording procedures, results, and recommendations. · Maintain software files, spreadsheets, document versions, and measuring equipment according to current revisions; ensure 5S discipline and EHS compliance in the work area. · Train operators/technicians on new standardized work methods, data collection procedures, and basic use of forms/systems related to CI/IE initiatives. --- Specialized Job Responsibilities · Prepare materials and dashboards for performance review meetings (DL, C/T, UPH, OEE, downtime), presenting insights clearly and objectively (PowerPoint/Excel). · Support organization of technical documentation (specifications, layouts, station-level P-FMEA/control plans, standard instructions) and updates to internal libraries. · Conduct data collections/simulations per internal/external customer requirements (when applicable) and support process and 5S audits. --- Education / Experience · Education: Technical degree in Mechanics, Production, Electronics, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related fields; or Technical High School with equivalent experience. · Experience: 2–5 years in a manufacturing environment (electronics preferred), with exposure to time studies, capacity, standardization, 5S, and improvement project support. --- Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Tools / Software · MS Office: o Excel (intermediate: formulas, PivotTables, charts), o PowerPoint (intermediate), o Word. · FlexFlow (required) for flow/downtime analysis; Downtime Tracker and Mamut (preferred) for event/stop analysis. · AutoCAD (preferred) for basic layouts; Minitab (preferred) for basic statistical analysis. · Ability to maintain version control and organize technical files. IE / Lean · Solid knowledge of time study, capacity/throughput, takt time, line balancing, standard work, 5S, Kaizen, wastes (7+1), value stream mapping (VSM), data collection, and basic root-cause analysis. Communication · Ability to create clear numerical/graphical reports, present findings to engineers/managers, and train operators/technicians. Analytical Reasoning · Ability to interpret technical instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; attention to detail and disciplined execution. --- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations · Preferred: White Belt/Yellow Belt (Lean Six Sigma), relevant safety/EHS certifications, and Time Study/MTM training (differential). --- Scope / Impact · Directly impacts the accuracy of capacity studies, Direct Labor calculations, and operational performance through reliable data collection, standardized documentation, and effective support of improvement events; contributes to process stability, productivity, and safety. (Derived from the base document, focused on IE/CI scope.) --- Decision Making / Discretion · Determines data collection methods, measurement sequence, and daily task prioritization within engineering guidelines; recommends method/layout adjustments with validation from the responsible Industrial Engineer. --- Supervision / Leadership · May act as a technical reference for operators and other technicians during data collection and standardization activities; may mentor peers in 5S, time study, and use of forms/systems. No formal people management responsibilities. --- Work Environment · Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, repetitive work, cleaning/processing chemicals, and electrical hazards; PPE and EHS compliance required. Work environment includes both factory floor and office, with frequent line visits. --- Physical Demands · Handling of small components; reaching with arms/hands; bending, kneeling, and performing measurements at workstations; frequent standing and walking; sitting for analysis/documentation; occasional climbing/balancing. Ability to lift/move up to 50 lb (≈ 23 kg). Visual acuity required for reading instruments/labels/drawings.
