About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Business Optimization Intern to support our team in enhancing operational efficiency through knowledge management, process improvements, and technology integration. This role offers exposure to key business systems, AI-driven tools, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced construction setting, with a focus on SharePoint development and site improvements for better document control and AI-enabled features. The ideal candidate is passionate about AI development, has basic coding skills (including low/no-code tools), and excels in creative problem-solving. This internship provides valuable insights into electrical subcontracting and opportunities to contribute to real-world projects, such as building custom chatbots, standard operating procedures (SOPs), project tracker tools in Excel, and optimizing SharePoint environments.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and building tools like project trackers.
  • Experience or interest in Excel VBA Development or Advanced Excel Automation, including creating sophisticated trackers with automation, dynamic dashboards, conditional logic, data visualization, and integrations using VBA, formulas, pivot tables, charts, and add-ins.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint for site development, document management, and AI integration is highly desirable
  • Strong interest in AI development and basic coding knowledge; experience with low/no-code tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple business functions.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for improving business processes in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced, growth-oriented company.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on knowledge management initiatives, including project documentation practices and preplanning to ensure seamless information flow across teams.
  • Assist in creating and refining SOPs to support construction project workflows, reporting, and document control practices.
  • Gain exposure to multiple business systems, including Paycom (HRIS for human resources management), Rivet (workforce planning and scheduling), Autodesk (cloud-based document control and forms) and accounting systems.
  • Participate in software rollout initiatives, including the development of training materials to support user adoption, effective implementation, and seamless integration across business functions.
  • Work with Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot Studio to build out custom chatbots, automate processes, and improve forms and functionality.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, finance, IT) to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilize Excel for data analysis, reporting, process optimization tasks, and creating project tracker tools to monitor tasks, timelines, resources, and progress.
  • Contribute to SharePoint development, including site improvements for enhanced document control, version tracking, and collaboration in construction projects.
  • Integrate AI features into SharePoint, such as intelligent search, automated workflows, and Copilot-assisted content management to streamline document handling and boost productivity.
  • Contribute to innovative projects that encourage creativity in solving business challenges, with a focus on AI and low/no-code development.
  • Performs other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.
