Job Summary: We are currently looking for a Calibration Engineer for our factory in Columbus, Ohio. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Calibration Plan for both laboratory and facility-wide equipment, ensuring adherence to ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and industry best practices. The Calibration Engineer will play a key role in scheduling, coordinating, and documenting all calibration activities, ensuring that new and existing equipment is properly maintained for accuracy and compliance. This position will interface internally with IQC Laboratory, Production, Equipment Engineering, and Process Engineering to monitor calibration status and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards. All calibration activities are performed by third-party calibration service providers, and the Calibration Engineer will coordinate these services. Each department is responsible for its own validation activities, while Laboratory Engineers perform equipment validation. Candidates with experience in measurement uncertainty, traceability, and metrology principles within the automotive, semiconductor, or solar industries are strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field) or Science (Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline).
  • At least 4 years of experience in calibration, laboratory testing, quality assurance, or reliability engineering.
  • Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty, traceability, and metrology principles.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and related quality management systems is strongly preferred.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple calibration schedules efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and calibration databases is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow strict safety and quality protocols.
  • High level of initiative and ownership in driving tasks and responsibilities to completion.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Columbus, Ohio.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry experience in automotive, semiconductor, or solar is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with calibration management software and data acquisition systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Calibration Plan for all laboratory and facility-wide equipment.
  • Ensure that all new equipment and tools entering the facility are identified and integrated into the calibration plan.
  • Create and maintain calibration schedules for existing and newly acquired equipment.
  • Work closely with IQC Laboratory, Production, and Engineering teams to monitor calibration status and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and 9001 requirements.
  • Coordinate with third-party calibration service providers to ensure timely calibration and minimal equipment downtime.
  • Support procurement and qualification of new measurement tools and calibration service providers.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all calibration activities, including certificates of calibration and historical data for audits.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring that calibration processes align with industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure calibration procedures, data logging, and verification processes align with industry standards.
  • Audit and review calibration data to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for calibration failures or deviations, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reliability of calibration activities while maintaining compliance.
  • Develop and optimize calibration workflows, documentation, and methodologies to ensure continual process improvement.
  • Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned by Quality Managers and others.
