This position will start on May 20 (includes training). To be considered for this position, applicants will need to be fully available throughout the duration of the program If offered a position, ambassadors may be required to live on property. What you get to do: As an Assistant Supervisor, you’ll help mentor and support a team of camp counselors as they and make an impact on the campers’ summer memories and SeaWorld experience, helping to inspire them to learn more about marine life. For the Day and Resident camp programs, you’ll make a significant contribution to our overall camper experience by helping train and mentor camp counselors; supervise the day-to-day operations of the camp programs; and create a healthy and safe environment for both campers and staff. In all you do, you’ll enthusiastically represent SeaWorld by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality.

Requirements

At least 19 years of age required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience working with children required.
CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council required by May 25th.
A valid driver’s license from state of residency and comfortable driving a passenger vehicle preferred.
Able to work 8 hours a day / 40 hours a week from June 7-August 7 including early morning, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Availability May 20-August 7 preferred.
Willing and able to live on sight during the camp program may be required.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, walk and stand extensively, and stoop or crouch to camper heights required.
Willingness to ride roller coasters, water attractions, and sit in the splash zones at presentations.
Communication skills – Effectively communicates with campers, counselors, parents, colleagues, and park guests, conveying information clearly and professionally in both verbal and written forms.
Adaptability - Being able to adjust quickly to changing situations and environments, especially in a dynamic and fast-paced camp setting with varying activities and challenges.
Patience - Demonstrating patience when working with people of different ages, backgrounds, and behaviors, ensuring a positive and supportive atmosphere for learning and growth regardless of the situation.
Creativity - Bringing creativity and enthusiasm to camp activities, utilizing innovative teaching methods and engaging experiences to make learning fun and memorable for campers.
Leadership - Providing guidance and direction to counselors and campers while serving as a role model, fostering a sense of responsibility and teamwork among them, demonstrating the ability to self-motivate as well as motivate others while managing time wisely and setting priorities effectively.
Resilience - Demonstrating resilience in handling challenging situations, such as managing behavior issues or unexpected changes, or performing multiple tasks simultaneously, while maintaining a positive attitude and focus on the well-being of campers.
Safety Awareness - Prioritizing the safety and well-being of campers and colleagues, ensuring that the whole group is together, and adhering to safety protocols and guidelines, especially when working near marine and terrestrial animals and in crowded environments.

Nice To Haves

Degree in education, recreation, early childhood development, marine biology, biology, or zoology majors preferred.
Experience working as leadership in a camp environment or educational setting preferred.
Ability to crawl, climb/ascend heights, and lift 50+ lbs preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead a group of 10-25 counselors and support the program Supervisor and Managers.
Communicate with camper parents and chaperones in person, over the phone, and through email.
Advice counselors to engage campers through a variety of behavioral management techniques, focusing on the individual campers as well as the whole group.
Collaborate with manager, supervisor, and other assistant supervisor(s) to implement policies to establish a professional and supportive work environment.
Teach the designed curriculum to counselors, and campers emphasizing age-appropriate topics such as animal classification, the food chain, unique adaptations, husbandry care, zoological careers, and conservation messaging.
Build rapport with counselors, other assistant supervisors, campers and their guardians, fostering positive summer memories at every opportunity including during meals, check in/out, and airport pick up/drop off.
Assist counselors and campers with navigating inter-personal relationships and interactions.
Support counselors and SeaWorld team members involved in the program, assisting zoological staff with campers during animal encounters.
Create a fun and safe environment for both campers and staff.
Follow set procedures and schedules discussing changes with the other leadership team members.
Communicate needs and document occurrences during daily operation
Step in to lead or co-lead a group of up to 25 campers as they explore the park including going on the rides and attending the shows alongside them, and as they participate in offsite field trips
Sleep in the on-sight dormitory cabin rooms to supervise counselors overnight.
