Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper at overnight camp. The Counselor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Counselors communicate and work daily with their assigned Unit Leader and co-counselors. They work closely with the entire counseling staff. They have regular working relationships with kitchen staff, activities staff, and property staff in accordance with their daily life and counseling duties. GSGLA Lakota Overnight Camp The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles’ Camp Lakota is a state-of-the-art, recently updated residential camp. Located just 90 miles from downtown Los Angeles, this premier camp site will host a full summer camp season. The camp will focus on providing a stand-out girl-led experience for campers of all ages and communities across our 6,272 square mile footprint. The camp offers a variety of specialty activities including a zipline, low ropes challenge course, horseback riding, swimming, and archery. The camp operates with daily exposure to various weather conditions and animals such as bugs, raccoons, and other wilderness animals common to the area.
