As a Cattle Procurement intern, you will: Gain knowledge and understanding of the business through hands on activities, coaching, and projects. A few learning opportunities include: Traveling to various auctions, barns, or sales with full time Cattle Buyers as directed to learn, understand, and become familiar with the cattle procurement process. When appropriate level of training has been reached, you may be sent to a few small auctions to procure cattle and follow them through the plant process independently. Becoming proficient in evaluating yields, weight, and the grade of cattle. Training will include following cows and steers through the barn, harvest floor, grading, and fabrication floor. Assisting Cattle Buyers in the purchasing of cattle at various buying stations and producers. Submitting timely reports as needed. NOTE: this description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
