CCM Animal Medicine Trainee

The trainee/resident performs a variety of professional-level functions to assist in providing optimum veterinary care to animals involved in research and learns the demands of managing the programs supporting biomedical research.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Medicine required
- Previous Animal Care Experience 1-2 years preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow protocols and function well under pressure.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods.
Responsibilities
- Care for a variety of animal species in a research setting.
- Participate in rounds with veterinary staff.
- Make presentations to the department and the broader laboratory animal medicine community.
- Assist with researcher and CCM staff training.
- Make recommendations for improvements to existing departmental methods and procedures and offer new ideas as part of the department’s quality improvement effort.
- Participate in regulatory reviews.
- Maintain familiarity with research protocols.
- Assist researchers with protocol creation and review.
