About The Position

The trainee/resident performs a variety of professional-level functions to assist in providing optimum veterinary care to animals involved in research and learns the demands of managing the programs supporting biomedical research.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Medicine required
• Previous Animal Care Experience 1-2 years preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow protocols and function well under pressure.
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Care for a variety of animal species in a research setting.
• Participate in rounds with veterinary staff.
• Make presentations to the department and the broader laboratory animal medicine community.
• Assist with researcher and CCM staff training.
• Make recommendations for improvements to existing departmental methods and procedures and offer new ideas as part of the department’s quality improvement effort.
• Participate in regulatory reviews.
• Maintain familiarity with research protocols.
• Assist researchers with protocol creation and review.
