About The Position

Responsible for verification of complete orders, selection of the correct procedure / test to be done based on the physician order, verifying insurance eligibility, checking medical necessity of test against diagnosis, referral and/or authorization verification and co-payment identification. Responsibilities also include taking patient phone calls to schedule or reschedule appointments, verifying and obtaining accurate patient demographic information, providing exam preparation instructions, and informing patients of any co-payment responsibilities. This is all done as efficiently and quickly as possible while maintaining a pleasant and helpful demeanor and ensuring that all procedures are followed in a manner that is consistent. This position works closely with the departments it schedules for as well as with physician offices. Performs clerical duties as assigned by and under the direct supervision of the Central Scheduling Supervisor. Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years Patient Access /Patient Registration, Scheduling, Patient Accounts, or Physician Office experience required, in which there was direct hands on of verification of eligibility, obtaining referrals and authorizations, and/or registration of demographic and insurance information.
  • Medical terminology is required.
  • Problem solving, customer service with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must type accurately 30 WPM.
  • Ability to work quickly and interact in a helpful, pleasant and courteous manner.
  • The ability to stay seated without interruption or distraction is required.
  • Constant use of hearing, sight speech and touch.
  • Frequent keyboard and telephone use.
  • Constant concentration and problem solving.

  • EPIC experience a plus.
