The Associate Chaplain PRN position is a rotating position, rotating opposite another Associate Chaplain PRN every other weekend from 5:00 p.m. on Friday to 8:00 a.m. on Monday. The Associate Chaplain is not required to be inside the hospital the entire weekend, but serves in an oncall capacity from home only responding when paged or called to come to the hospital. For the hours inside the hospital, the Associate Chaplain is paid at a higher base rate than when at home monitoring the pager. The Associate Chaplain will be involved with requests for pastoral care, prayer crisis intervention, debriefing, comfort and advocacy for patients and their family members, especially at the time of a death. The Associate Chaplain responds to Alpha Trauma, code blue events, patients transitioning to comfort care and other emergent requests.
