About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on, technically driven Manufacturing Engineer to support our nickel and silver plating operations and the chemical processes within our wastewater treatment plant. This role plays a key part in ensuring high-performance plating results—such as adhesion, thickness, and conductivity—while minimizing hazardous waste through optimized chemical usage and robust wastewater treatment practices. In addition, this position provides chemical process expertise across the site, including support for degreasing operations, customer RMA analysis, and related activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Science Engineering from an accredited institution
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the specified job location(s) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

  • Experience with process standardization and continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to lead projects and influence cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of SPC, DOE and control plans
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Expertise is also required in the area of manufacturing processing methods, assembly and testing techniques, quality and SPC methods
  • Must have detailed knowledge of the properties, processing requirements, and applications of materials

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update process controls for nickel and silver plating operations to ensure consistent, robust performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for quality issues across plating lines, implementing corrective actions to resolve adhesion problems, porosity, burning, improper thickness, and other defects.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives using SPC and other analytical tools to enhance plating quality, throughput, and chemical efficiency.
  • Implement productivity and efficiency projects using Lean principles and methodologies.
  • Partner with EHS to ensure strict adherence to OSHA and environmental regulations, including proper handling and management of hazardous waste.
  • Collaborate with wastewater treatment technicians to monitor and maintain equipment performance—including filter presses and pH control systems—to keep all operational parameters within specification.
  • Support EHS programs, including MESH and ISO 14001 requirements, serving as the lead for the Chemical Management MESH element.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, and potential hazards within assigned areas.
  • Work closely with Maintenance to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
