The Office of the New York City Comptroller serves as the City’s chief fiscal steward, responsible for auditing City agencies, managing pension funds, overseeing contracts, and advancing policy solutions that promote equity, transparency, and effective government. Under Comptroller Mark Levine’s leadership, the Office is focused on strengthening public systems, improving affordability, and delivering effective and equitable outcomes for all New Yorkers. The Office of the New York City Comptroller, through its Bureau of Asset Management (BAM) is the custodian and delegated investment advisor to the five New York City Pension Funds. The Comptroller is also a trustee on each of the five pension fund boards. BAM manages the investments, operations, risk, and ESG considerations for the portfolios of the five funds. Through a culture of collaboration, individual development, and teamwork that leverages diverse talent and strives for continuous improvement, the goal of the Bureau of Asset Management is to achieve exceptional investment outcomes for all stakeholders; to deliver outstanding support to plan Trustees; and to serve as a responsible steward of the resources of plan beneficiaries and the City of New York. The Chief of Staff will work with the Leadership team to develop and implement special projects that cross teams within the agency, with a particular focus on strategic planning – both investment and operational, trustee relationships, and ESG.
