The Opportunity at Altana We are seeking a high-leverage Chief of Staff (CoS) to serve as a strategic partner and extension of our CEO. This is a high accountability role designed for a leader who can operate elbow-to-elbow with our executive team while remaining unafraid to get deep into the weeds of execution. The primary mission of the CoS is to drive must-win initiatives and ensure organizational scalability as we navigate complex environments. You will be the architect of our operating system. Designing the cadences, decision forums, and accountability mechanisms that allow Altana to run on systems rather than just personalities.

Requirements

  • Federal Government Expertise: Significant experience working within, or very close to, the U.S. Federal Government. You must possess a sophisticated "playbook" for how to navigate and get things done within federal agencies and the broader public sector arena.
  • Internal Operations Leadership: Proven track record in highly cross-functional roles such as Business Operations, Chief of Staff, or Revenue/Marketing Operations. You have experience building systems for scale.
  • Strategic Maturity: Experience operating at a senior level, with the confidence to challenge senior executives and the humility to handle menial tasks if they accelerate the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Services Background: Background in Management Consulting, Investment Banking, or Venture Capital is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Executive & Board Governance: Own the Executive Team management process, including drafting agendas, managing 1:1 follow-ups, gathering feedback, and holding leaders accountable to commitments.
  • Government Affairs & Ecosystem Strategy: Act as a key liaison in our external efforts, leveraging a deep understanding of federal government structures to drive strategic business development and community work.
  • Company-Wide Planning: Lead the translation of high-level strategy into actionable goals and OKRs. You will own the alignment, tracking, and measurement of these metrics across the company.
  • De-bottlenecking Execution: Identify areas where the organization is experiencing execution lag and intervene to resolve friction, acting as a "functional pinch-hitter" when temporary capacity gaps arise.
  • Initiative Ownership: Take full ownership of 1–2 high-priority, cross-functional initiatives at a time—specifically those that lack a natural home within existing departments.
  • CEO Leverage: Serve as the primary filter for the CEO’s time, distinguishing signal from noise and ruthlessly prioritizing the few initiatives that truly move the needle.
