About The Position

The Children’s Education Coordinator is responsible for creating a supportive environment for children and youth that reflects the mission and values of Resources for Human Development (RHD) and complies with the standards of the Philadelphia Office of Supportive Housing (OSH). This position functions within the program’s administrative and supervisory team and focuses on supporting the educational, developmental, and emotional needs of children living in the program. The Children’s Education Coordinator works closely with families, schools, case managers, and community partners to ensure children are supported in their educational progress and overall well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children
  • Experience working in educational, residential, or community-based settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse and vulnerable populations
  • Program planning and event coordination experience
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience
  • Access to a personal vehicle with state-minimum insurance
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Clearance if applicable
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Pre-employment physical and TB screening
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and travel between program sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with school districts preferred
  • Knowledge of the McKinney-Vento Reauthorization Act preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the Children’s Education Coordinator Assistant
  • Conduct needs-based assessments and develop service plans for children and youth
  • Serve as a liaison between families, schools, treatment providers, and case managers
  • Monitor compliance with Office of Supportive Housing (OSH) program standards
  • Track and support school attendance, academic performance, and educational progress
  • Plan recognition events and activities celebrating children’s accomplishments
  • Ensure implementation of McKinney-Vento Reauthorization Act policies and procedures
  • Assist in facilitating trauma-informed programming such as TREM
  • Develop and implement a summer enrichment program that supports cognitive, social, and emotional development
  • Coordinate services and connect children and youth with external community programs
  • Support residents in achieving therapeutic and family goals related to child development
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence as required
  • Build relationships with schools, community partners, and potential donors
  • Participate in initiatives involving other organizations supporting homeless families and children
  • Develop and implement day-to-day educational and recreational activities for children
  • Perform other duties as assigned
