About The Position

The Center for Human Resources at San Diego State University is seeking a Classification & Compensation Coordinator to join our Employment Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging HR professional who is ready to build specialized expertise in classification and compensation within a dynamic university environment. Working closely with and in support of a Senior Classification & Compensation Analyst, this role offers hands-on experience in the technical foundations of position management, compensation review, and workforce documentation. What You'll Do: Support Classification & Compensation Activities: Assist with preparing, organizing, and maintaining position descriptions and related documentation. Compile job-related data and draft supporting materials used in classification and compensation reviews. Data & Systems Coordination: Maintain and update HR system records, run standard reports, validate data, and support workforce and salary-related reporting activities. Workflow & Documentation Management: Track classification and compensation requests, coordinate documentation and approvals, and help ensure timely and accurate processing of employment actions. Analytical Support: Handle sensitive personnel and compensation data with discretion. Assist in compiling confidential information for internal reviews, audits, and employment-related matters. Contribute to Process Improvement: Support updates to templates, procedures, and documentation to enhance consistency, efficiency, and service quality across Employment Services. Why Join Us? Position Information This is a full-time, probationary role, offering comprehensive benefits. Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is approved for partial telecommuting with on-site work in San Diego after the training period. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Two years of professional work experience in a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with documentation and data.
  • Ability to analyze and organize information and prepare clear, well-structured materials.
  • Ability to learn and apply policies, procedures, and collective bargaining provisions.
  • Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a structured environment.
  • Comfort working with HR systems, databases, and reporting tools.
