About The Position

The Business Analyst supports assigned clients by owning Tier 2 issue analysis and resolution for custom solutions, focusing on business processes and data-related needs. This role works closely with support, engineering, and engagement teams to translate client requirements into clear user stories, prioritize work, and ensure solutions meet expectations. The Business Analyst acts as a subject matter expert for client solutions, supports testing and Agile delivery, and communicates progress and changes clearly to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Agile Scrum processes and principles.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex systems, identify root causes, and conceptualize effective technical or process-based solutions.
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation, and information-gathering skills, with the ability to create clear and actionable documentation (epics, user stories, acceptance criteria).
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and entry- to mid-level SQL skills to query, analyze, and understand data structures and patterns in support of issue resolution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, lateral thinking, and the ability to translate business needs into technical language and vice versa.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface confidently with internal teams and external clients.
  • Comfortable working independently while effectively collaborating across cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and support.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Tier 2 support owner for one of AGDATA’s large clients or multiple midsize/smaller clients, taking full responsibility for researching, analyzing, and resolving functional and data-related issues across the client's custom solution portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in the client’s custom solutions, including understanding key data tables, attributes, business logic, workflows, and overall solution architecture.
  • Provide technical guidance and timely, accurate responses to Tier 1 support teams, Engagement Managers, and other stakeholders, including direct interaction with clients when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with engineering on Tier 3 escalations, ensuring proper understanding of the issue, providing business and technical context, and overseeing resolution through to completion.
  • Understand the functional behaviors, business use cases, and integration points of AGDATA’s commercial solutions as they relate to supported clients, while escalating advanced commercial platform issues or enhancement requests to the appropriate commercial SCRUM team.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on client solutions, supporting Engagement Managers in client meetings and communications.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of technical work for the client’s engineering team including defects, maintenance tasks, and enhancement requests or new custom solutions; ensure clarity and completeness of user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, backlog grooming) with engineering and product teams to support delivery of client-specific features and resolutions.
  • Support testing activities across UAT, regression, and system testing efforts for the client’s custom solutions, ensuring quality outcomes aligned with client expectations.
  • Communicate status updates, product progress, and changes in priorities to internal stakeholders and clients in a clear and proactive manner.
