About The Position

TriHealth is seeking a Clinical Informatics Pharmacist to support and lead Epic Willow initiatives, with a strong preference for candidates certified in Willow Ambulatory and Willow Inventory. Willow or Beacon‑certified pharmacists will also be considered. In this role, you’ll partner with clinical and non‑clinical teams to design, build, and optimize workflows that support the medication‑use process within the EHR. You’ll help drive standardized solutions that improve medication safety, reliability, and efficiency across the organization while supporting pharmacy systems, automation, and vendor integrations. Ideal candidates are highly motivated, detail‑oriented problem solvers with strong communication skills, a solid understanding of inpatient or outpatient pharmacy workflows, and hands‑on experience with pharmacy automation and Epic systems. Responsible for working with clinical and non-clinical team members across the entire organization to design, build, and implement workflows to support the medication use process within the EHR. Partners with these other teams to develop and implement standardized solutions to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the medication use process. Manages the daily medication record maintenance across all pharmacy IS systems including pharmacy automation, Epic, automated dispensing cabinets, infusion pumps, and medication compounders. Builds and links medication records across all systems ensuring accurate medication build following pharmacy established standards. Works with vendors of pharmacy related automation and software to develop, deploy, and maintain their products and services. Follows all TriHealth Policies and Procedures, all state and federal laws, and all Joint Commission and other governing body requirements when completing job duties.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree Pharmacy (Required)
  • Pharmacist
  • 2 - 3 years Pharmacy (Required)
  • Epic Certification (Willow, Willow Ambulatory, Willow Inventory, or Beacon) is required
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues in Pharmacy workflows, pharmacy automation (pharmacy robotics, automated dispensing cabinets, compounders, infusion pumps), pharmacy software (Epic), and an ability to troubleshoot pharmacy related hardware and software.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 - 7 years Pharmacy (IT, Automation or Informatics) (Preferred)

  • A working knowledge of pharmacy inpatient or outpatient workflows and experience with using automation within the medication use process.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in appropriate committees, work groups, or task forces to facilitate the ongoing process of the design, implementation, and revision of the clinical information systems.
  • Evaluates the impact the information systems have on daily user workflow and coordinates work with users and Information Services to resolve conflicts between workflow and the information systems.
  • Identifies and resolves problems of moderate to advanced complexity using strong analytical and logic skills.
  • Responsible for the high-quality definition, analysis, design, implementation, education, reporting, documentation, and support of Epic and Pharmacy related systems.
  • Daily tasks include but are not limited to build, configuration, training, and maintenance.
  • Manages day-to-day changes/updates in pharmacy automation and software.
  • Troubleshoots hardware/software issues and fixes when appropriate or notifies vendors of issues that require onsite or remote vendor intervention to fix.
  • Works with vendors to coordinate required updates and upgrades to automation and software through communication with Manager of Pharmacy Systems Integration and use of the IS Change Management process.
  • Supports departmental and organizational processes including customer support and problem resolution in a timely manner to ensure maximum system availability
  • Establishes effective working relationship and maintains open and active communication with clinical pharmacy team members, physicians, information systems, vendors, and pharmacy leadership.
  • Facilitates communications between vendors and clinical team members.
  • Clearly articulates ideas and thoughts through written and verbal communications.
  • Provides support and education for newly implemented pharmacy software or automation solutions.
  • Follows best practices for medication safety when designing systems for order verification, order processing, and dispensing as it relates to pharmacy technology and automation
  • Accurately and promptly analyzes the impact of information technology in clinical operations and workflows.
  • Communicates issues and topics with team members, pharmacy leadership, and Information Systems.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Pharmacy practices, regulatory standards, organizational policies and procedures related to clinical practice, legal implications of the clinical information system, and organizational direction in order to support users and process teams.
  • Works with end users across the system and leadership to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Communicates with pharmacy analysts, automation managers, and other information systems analysts to coordinate and execute implementation if plan for improvement is feasible.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary and process improvement teams to identify potential future uses of the information systems and potential improvements in the current use of the systems.
  • Serves as a pharmacy informatics resource to individuals and teams throughout the facility to ensure safe medication practices with regards to Epic.
  • Utilizes clinical and operational knowledge to see, question, understand, evaluate, formulate and follow through on strategies for consistently improving pharmacy operations as it relates to informatics, technology, and automation at all TriHealth sites.
  • Strikes a balance between fixing current reported issues and identifying broad system related improvements.
  • Meets Pharmacy Enterprise Leadership deadlines.
  • Prioritizes issue resolution and work requests effectively.
  • Establishes responsible deadlines and personal work plans for items not assigned by Pharmacy Enterprise Leadership.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and/or initiative in seeking or accepting additional assignments.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation during course of Epic build and review.
