Job Description The Clinical Nurse – GI Endoscopy Interventional Procedures is directly responsible for patient care in the pre-operative area and during endoscopy procedures. The clinical nurse works collaboratively with GI physicians, anesthesiologists and GI procedure technicians to provide optimal patient care. In this role, the nurse will support a variety of advanced GI procedures (ERCP, EUS, POEM, etc.) and gain exposure to a broad patient population treated by the specialty teams that are a part of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Digestive Health Center. The NMH GI Endoscopy Labs are high-volume, fast-paced procedural areas providing care for both inpatients and outpatients. In this position, the clinical nurse will develop knowledge and skills in areas including but not limited to GI procedures and clinical conditions, devices, supplies, and research. The department also offers professional growth opportunities through charge nurse and coordinator positions.

Requirements

Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher
Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license
Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR through American Heart Association.
Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative)
Oral, listening and written communication skills
Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations
Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data

Experience in specific clinical area
Nursing specialty certification, if eligible
One year of GI Procedure nursing experience
