About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the design, deployment, and operation of secure cloud environments supporting mission-critical IT systems and analytics platforms for CBP analytics and intelligence programs. The engineer will help implement cloud infrastructure, support migration efforts, and maintain secure, scalable cloud solutions aligned with federal security standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on cloud engineering experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with secure cloud operations within regulated environments. Support will be provided across multiple mission locations: Ashburn, VA Sterling, VA Washington, D.C.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with a BS/BA, 3 years with an MS/MA, or 9 years with a HS diploma/equivalent in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering2+ and enterprise migration initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM services.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, security architecture, and federal compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting production cloud migrations and cloud-based environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CBP suitability
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with cloud migration tools (AWS Migration Hub, Azure Migrate, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and financial management practices.
  • Experience supporting federal or other highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP environments.
  • Configure and manage compute, storage, networking, and identity services to support scalable and reliable systems.
  • Support application and data migrations to cloud environments, including modernization of legacy systems.
  • Implement cloud security controls aligned with NIST, FedRAMP, and zero-trust principles.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, automation, and containerized environments using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Monitor cloud environments and troubleshoot performance, reliability, and operational issues.
  • Assist with cost optimization, resource utilization, and operational efficiency across cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects, developers, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure cloud solutions.
  • Document configurations, processes, and technical solutions to support ongoing operations.
