About The Position

Responsible for inspecting in process and finished parts to ensure that customer requirements are met.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years' experience performing dimensional inspections.
  • Minimum two years CMM programming experience on prismatic machined component parts.
  • Proficient performance of Class B Inspector essential duties.
  • Proficient in current computer software.
  • Must be able to lift parts and other items from floor to waist on a frequent basis, while protecting lifted items from damage. Parts weigh up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 35 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.
  • Must be able to tolerate a hot work environment seasonally, when summer outdoor temperatures combine with residual heat from machines.
  • Must be able to walk within and between areas frequently and climb stairs occasionally.
  • Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to comprehend and comply with detailed gage calibration work instructions and practices.
  • Must be able to retain instructions sufficient to perform complex tasks successfully and with very minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to read and understand drawings and precision measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to comprehend and comply with requirements of the Quality Systems Manual as instructed.
  • Must have experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings, control plans, process instructions, and work instructions to determine sample quantities and features to be inspected for lots of parts.
  • Program the CMM in support of new job launches and ongoing production, and train others as needed to do so.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, visual inspection, and other gages as required to complete planned inspections.
  • Identify and report conditions that do not meet requirements and approve acceptable parts for shipment or further processing.
  • Transfer rejected parts to staging area and log data into the ERP system.
  • Verify implementation of appropriate corrective action for quality issues.
  • Maintain clean work areas and orderly storage of fixtures, gages, and special inspection equipment.
  • Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
