About The Position

E.J. Reynolds Company is seeking an experienced CNC Laser Operator to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain CNC laser cutting equipment to produce high‑quality parts to specification, while ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years operating CNC laser cutting equipment in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with CNC laser controls and basic program edits at the machine.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T symbols, and work instructions.
  • Competence using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measure, gauges).
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for handling sheet metal and small parts; ability to use pallet jacks or forklifts (certification a plus).
  • Other:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in machining/fabrication preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety mindset, and reliable attendance.
  • Permanent work authorization for the US required
  • Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary).

Responsibilities

  • Load sheet metal onto the laser bed using appropriate handling equipment and methods.
  • Set up and operate CNC Nukon laser cutting machine.
  • Select programs, verify tooling/nozzles, lenses, and assist gas settings; adjust offsets as needed.
  • Perform first‑article verification and make minor program edits at the control as required.
  • Stage raw materials and organize cut parts according to work orders and routing.
  • Optimize sheet utilization and nesting to reduce scrap.
  • Interpret blueprints and work instructions; verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Conduct in‑process and final inspections; document results and nonconformances.
  • Deburr parts to remove sharp edges, slag, and burrs; ensure parts meet cosmetic and dimensional standards.
  • Identify and segregate parts requiring secondary operations.
  • Perform routine/preventive maintenance (nozzle changes, lens cleaning, filter checks, alignment checks).
  • Troubleshoot common cutting issues (edge quality, kerf width, pierce failures) and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness—keep machines, workstations, and aisles clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements, including laser safety protocols and lockout/tagout where applicable.
