About The Position
The CNC Hard Milling Machinist sets up and operates CNC milling machines to machine hardened tool steel and precision components while maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of CNC milling experience, including hard milling
- Experience machining hardened tool steels (45–60 HRC preferred)
- Ability to read technical drawings and maintain tight tolerances
- Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis milling machines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Nice To Haves
- Mastercam Software experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, & operate CNC milling machines for hard milling applications
- Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Select appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds for hardened materials
- Perform program edits, adjust offsets, and troubleshoot machining issues
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Maintain quality standards and production documentation
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
- Customer Service
- Follow Router plan (work with Manufacturing Engineer on any changes)
- Good Machining Method’s
- Maximizing Machine Utilization and Unattended Time
- Inspection paperwork filled out
- Record and report all errors and out of tolerance deviations to Manufacturing Engineer / Job Leader
- Maintenance of Schedule
- Monitor tool inventory
- Training and Motivation
- General Maintenance
- Cleanliness of Area
- Mandatory overtime when and if required by Sybridge
