GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with processing Civil War Collection. Scan Civil War documents for digitization of collection. Transcribe documents. Inventory of the Collection. Aid with preservation of Civil War Collection. Change Desiccant Canisters in Civil War display cases. Clean Archives and Exhibit spaces. Assist with Exhibition Development. Research Civil War topics relevant to current exhibit development. Assist in locating permanent collection documents for exhibit display. Assist with locating secondary resources for exhibit. Assist curator with the handling of Artwork for art shows. Other duties as assigned, including assisting with gallery tours and desk. The work study is directly accountable to the Director of the Pearce Museum, and will be supervised on a day-to-day basis by the Museum Curator. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Basic experience with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, and other general software packages. Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills. Ability to analyze and interpret historical information. Ability to work independently and efficiently with attention to detail. Ability to work with diverse groups of people including, but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and visitors. Ability to follow security guidelines both in the Museum and throughout the Cook Center. Ability to lift and move materials up to fifty pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Part-time
