About The Position

The Combi-Lift Spotter assists Combi-Lift Drivers by guiding equipment movement, ensuring safe navigation through tight spaces, and coordinating material placement. This role is crucial for maintaining safety standards and optimizing workflow efficiency in material handling processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to material handling equipment.
  • Physical requirements: ability to walk/stand all shift, lift 40 lbs. unassisted, bend, squat, kneel, work in all weather conditions.
  • Pass background check and drug test
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately read and interpret a tape measure (test will be required)

Responsibilities

  • Hand Signal Proficiency: Spotters must be thoroughly familiar with standard hand signals used in Spotting operations.
  • Crane and Rigging Knowledge: A good understanding of Combi components, operation, and limitations, as well as rigging techniques, is essential.
  • Hazard Identification: Spotters need to be able to identify potential hazards in the work area and understand how to mitigate them.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication with the Combi operator and other team members is critical.
  • Attention to Detail: Spotters need to be highly attentive to detail and able to focus on the task at hand, even in potentially noisy and distracting environments.
  • Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols is paramount.
  • Observation: Spotters continuously monitor the surroundings, paying close attention to Potential hazards like Environmental obstacles such as power lines, machine and load clearances, Debris and personnel.
  • Load Handling: They assist with rigging the load, ensuring it is properly secured before the lift begins, and they monitor the load's movement throughout the move, alerting the operator to any issues.
  • Safety Oversight: Spotters are responsible for ensuring that the work area is clear of personnel and obstructions before and during the lift. They may also be involved in identifying potential hazards and implementing safety precautions.
  • Emergency Response: In case of an emergency, the spotter has the authority to stop the Combi operation if they observe a dangerous situation.
  • Equipment Inspection: Spotters may also be involved in inspecting the Combi and rigging equipment before and after each lift, ensuring that everything is in safe working order.
