About The Position

Our CDL drivers are the logistic backbone of our retail and landscaping businesses. This position drives a wide variety of Moana Nursery dump trucks including transfer trucks, end dumps, 5 yard dump trucks as well as specialty vehicles like hydroseeders and a rock slinger truck. Driving is primarily completed within Washoe County with occasional trips to other Nevada Counties and the Eastern Sierra always day trips and never overnight. In addition, this position occasionally operates heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steer and fork lifts to fill the dump trucks when other teammates are busy. The driver will both deliver material out of our rock yard located at our South Virginia Street Garden Center as well as pick it up from local quarries.

Requirements

Must have Class A CDL License
Must be able to operate vehicles equipped with 10-speed manual transmission
Minimum one year of CDL experience required
Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs
Applicant must be able to enter and exit dump trucks frequently.
Applicant must be able to work outdoors for an extended period of time.

Nice To Haves

"N" Endorsement
Experience working in mines and/or familiarity with MSHA requirements

Responsibilities

Upholds Moana Nursery's strict safety policies
Shows up on time ready work
Completes thorough and accurate pre-trip safety checks on each vehicle
Keeps vehicles clean and in good working orders
Communicates regularly with our Fleet Maintenance team to ensure Preventative Maintenance is completed regularly
Utilizes tablet and dispatch management software to take the most efficient routes maximizing the number of trips in a shift
Promptly responds to customer needs, requests for service or assistance
Communicates using radios to other Moana teammates
Drives courteously and defensively every day
Carefully loads and dumps bulk material using caution to prevent damage and injury
Participates in non driving activities when needed
Communicates with customers when in route or if there is a delay
Has the ability and willingness to occasionally interact with and provide exceptional customer service to our customers
