Commercial Mowing Operations Manager – Omaha Metro
About The Position
US Grounds Maintenance is seeking a Commercial Mowing Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day execution and performance of our commercial lawn care and grounds maintenance operations. This role is responsible for overseeing field operations, improving crew productivity, maintaining service quality, and ensuring work is completed according to contract scope and company standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring regular time in the field to support crews, inspect work, solve problems, and drive operational consistency. The Commercial Mowing Operations Manager plays a key role in staffing, route execution, quality control, labor efficiency, and cross-department coordination. During the winter season, this role will also support snow removal operations.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in commercial lawn care, landscape maintenance, or grounds management operations
- Proven experience leading field crews, coordinating routes, and managing daily service execution
- Strong working knowledge of turf care, including mowing practices, trimming, edging, and fertilization programs
- Ability to balance field leadership with operational management responsibilities
- Strong understanding of labor planning, crew sizing, and production efficiency
- Experience managing quality standards across commercial properties
- Ability to track and manage labor performance, staffing needs, and operational metrics
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Nice To Haves
- Fertilizer or pesticide applicator license, or willingness to obtain one
- Experience with scheduling, payroll, job costing, or field service management systems
- Familiarity with municipal or government service contracts
- Experience supporting or coordinating snow removal operations
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day commercial lawn care and grounds maintenance operations across assigned accounts
- Coordinate crews, routes, staffing, and equipment to maximize efficiency and service delivery
- Spend regular time in the field inspecting properties, supporting crews, and resolving operational issues
- Ensure services are completed according to contract specifications, schedules, and company quality standards
- Monitor crew productivity, labor performance, and operational execution across the commercial portfolio
- Lead, coach, and develop crew leaders and field employees
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and accountability of team members
- Coordinate with internal departments including operations, payroll, recruiting, and administration
- Ensure accurate job costing and timekeeping by monitoring labor hours, cost codes, and clock-ins
- Conduct property inspections to maintain standards for mowing, trimming, edging, turf health, and overall site appearance
- Support execution of commercial, municipal, and government contracts according to scope and service requirements
- Identify operational improvement opportunities related to staffing, routing, quality, and equipment usage
- Assist with equipment planning, resource allocation, and operational scaling as the company grows
- Support planning, logistics, and execution of snow removal operations during the winter season
