Position Overview The Commercial Service Plumber is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing plumbing systems in commercial facilities. This role requires strong troubleshooting ability, professionalism when interacting with clients, and the ability to work independently while maintaining Sylvester & Cockrum’s standards for quality and safety. Service plumbers play a key role in maintaining client relationships by delivering reliable solutions and exceptional service.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of commercial plumbing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience servicing plumbing systems in occupied commercial buildings.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • South Carolina plumbing license.
  • Experience working in healthcare, hospitality, institutional, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience with service dispatch systems or digital work order platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose plumbing issues in commercial systems including water, waste, vent, storm, and gas systems.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on fixtures, valves, pumps, piping systems, and plumbing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and identify efficient, cost-effective solutions.
  • Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Install and replace plumbing fixtures, piping systems, water heaters, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Perform retrofits, upgrades, and small installation projects in existing commercial buildings.
  • Ensure all work meets plumbing codes, project specifications, and company standards.
  • Communicate professionally with facility managers, property managers, and clients.
  • Explain system issues and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
  • Represent Sylvester & Cockrum with professionalism on all service calls.
  • Complete service tickets, work orders, and job documentation accurately.
  • Track materials used and provide clear notes on work performed.
  • Communicate service updates to supervisors or service coordinators as required.
  • Follow company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • Identify jobsite hazards and maintain safe work practices.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
