About The Position

As a part-time team member of the ERDCWERX (EWX) Innovation Hub located in Vicksburg, Mississippi, this position serves on the project team, reports to EWX Commercialization Manager, and is responsible to play an active role in establishing and strengthening industry relationships in order to promote awareness, support interest, and assist the active pursuit of technology transfer and transition (T3) agreements with our government partner, US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in engineering, science and/or management
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in business development and management
  • Experience in business management/business development, preferably with significant exposure to design/engineering, product launch, and business financing
  • Must not have any conflicts of interest affecting DEFENSEWERX or the Department of Defense
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc), CRM, project management tools
  • Must pass a background check prior to employment
  • Must have or be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
  • Have a genuine passion for working in a small, fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization that is stretching itself, growing and highly focused on mission and impact

Responsibilities

  • Pursue, establish, and maintain business relationships that support Innovation Hub and government partner objectives
  • Work with EWX Commercialization Manager to establish and maintain relationships with industry and government connections
  • Support EWX goals to establish rapport with industry representatives and consult with them to aid in the pursuit of technology commercialization relationships
  • Initiate and/or participate in meetings and events – in person and virtual - with EWX personnel, client companies, federal labs, or technology transfer office
  • Undertake email, social media, phone, and in-person communication
  • Support implementation of the EWX technology commercialization strategy including industry connections, relationship building, and market research
  • Gain familiarity with ERDC IP and best practices in patent commercialization, as well as ERDC agreement pathways and application steps to include completion of document templates
  • Gain awareness of and assist in management of ERDC’s IP portfolio; become fluent in USPTO portfolio management services
  • Contribute to project coordination and tracking using digital platforms including Trello and Hubspot
  • Gain and maintain working knowledge of: capabilities afforded EWX through the Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) ERDC strategic goals regarding T3 ERDC lab capabilities and patented innovations government intellectual property (IP) patenting and licensing methods, document templates, terms, and benefits
  • Participate in professional development and other necessary capacity-building
  • Coordinate with EWX team members and contribute to the success of EWX and DWX
