About The Position

The Communications Coordinator is a creative, production-focused role responsible for capturing and producing high-quality visual and digital content that reflects the impact of our programs and community work. This position supports communications efforts for both TaskForce Prevention and Community Services and PrEP4Teens, an HIV prevention initiative focused on youth-centered sexual health education. PrEP4Teens was previously co-led by TaskForce and Northwestern University and is now housed within TaskForce. The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in digital storytelling, social media management, and visual content creation, helping amplify youth voices and strengthen the digital presence of both initiatives. This position is ideal for a visual storyteller who thrives in community-based environments and enjoys balancing creative production with collaboration. The role emphasizes photography, videography, graphic design, and short-form digital storytelling. Writing responsibilities are primarily limited to captions, short promotional copy, and supporting text. A portfolio demonstrating visual storytelling and multimedia production is required.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in photography, videography, graphic design, or digital communications
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating visual storytelling and production quality
  • Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and InDesign
  • Experience producing short-form social media video content
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 20 pounds of equipment

  • Experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities and/or BIPOC youth-serving organizations
  • Experience with health equity communications, HIV prevention messaging, or public health initiatives
  • Experience supporting youth-centered programming or youth leadership initiatives
  • Familiarity with website updates and social media performance metrics

  • Bilingual or bicultural (Spanish/English) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos at programs, workshops, community events, and outreach activities.
  • Produce short-form video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Create longer-form recap or promotional video content highlighting program impact and community engagement.
  • Design flyers, digital graphics, and promotional materials for programs and communications campaigns.
  • Maintain a consistent visual identity aligned with TaskForce and PrEP4Teens brand guidelines.
  • Organize and maintain digital libraries of photography, video, and communications assets.
  • Co-manage TaskForce and PrEP4Teens social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and web-based content.
  • Plan, schedule, and publish digital content that centers youth voice and supports program objectives.
  • Collaborate with the PrEP4Teens Youth Leadership Committee to elevate youth perspectives, co-create content ideas, and ensure digital storytelling reflects teen experiences and priorities.
  • Participate in meetings with internal teams and youth partners to align on creative vision, design standards, content guidelines, and collaboration practices.
  • Ensure all digital communications remain culturally relevant, visually engaging, and aligned with program messaging.
  • Track social media engagement and platform performance to inform content strategy.
  • Collaborate with PrEP4Teens program staff to develop and implement communications campaigns.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Communications to translate program initiatives into compelling digital storytelling and campaign materials.
  • Support communications planning for outreach initiatives, program activations, and partnerships.
  • Coordinate creative assets and promotional materials for events, campaigns, and community engagement activities.
  • Attend and document programs and community events through photography and video.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of photo and video equipment during events.
  • Produce recap content and visual storytelling materials following programs and activations.
  • Assist with event promotion and digital communications related to community events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and support communications needs across programs.
  • Track deliverables, maintain asset systems, and support communications workflow.
  • Assist with compiling engagement insights, campaign summaries, and communications performance reviews.
