Communications Coordinator
About The Position
The Defense Sector at Leidos is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join a high-performing communications team to help drive social engagement and strategy across internal and external audiences for a subcomponent of the Department of Health and Human Services. The ideal candidate will have experience developing cross-platform communications packages, including press releases, web content, social media, and video content to inform and engage the public on scientific topics. As a member of a highly collaborative communications team, the Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Strategic Communications Manager, internal customers, production colleagues, and subject matter experts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience.
- US citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- 2+ years of experience in external communications, social media, and digital engagement.
- Proven experience managing social media campaigns on channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Experience with creating web content.
- Ability to analyze and draw insights from social media metrics and have a deep understanding of social algorithms to optimize the channels.
- Proficient in social media management software such as Hootsuite or similar.
- Collaborative working style.

- Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Success with being a team player.
- Self-starter, with ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- While this job is fully remote, occasional travel to government office in Washington, DC may be required.
- Slight preference for candidates in the greater DC metro area who could visit the customer site more often.

- Develop new and revised web content in collaboration with internal customers and subject matter experts
- Manage clearance processes for the communications team
