About The Position

The VCP operations and engagement teams bring vital expertise to a range of services in support of the school's operations. We promote a collaborative culture and commit to coaching and skills development in order to support our team members’ ongoing professional growth, regardless of years of experience or time in the classroom. The Community Engagement Coordinator will serve on a team of three such coordinators that will perform regular, daily customer-service-oriented duties related to school network student, family, and guest engagement. Additionally, they will share a set of clearly defined, rotating responsibilities related to school network transportation services and engagement with our transportation services vendor.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the record keeping of daily attendance data and collate attendance reports while performing analysis and inferring trends on related matters.
  • Counsel students and advise parents regarding absenteeism and tardiness to ensure consistent, reliable school attendance; issues notices as required by law.
  • Maintain daily contact with all academic programs to monitor absences and tardiness; confers with parents and makes home calls when necessary.
  • Welcome campus visitors (students, parents, and guests) and assess visitors' needs upon arrival through the campus front office station.
  • Answer phones and appropriately resolve callers' needs.
  • Receive, sort, and appropriately resolve deliveries (which may include transportation of mail or packages to staff in their designated work areas).
  • Review bus referral reports to ensure assigned staff is taking care of bus discipline issues and request video footage from transportation vendors when needed.
  • Checks parent/guardian requests for bus stop changes, aligns requests with Student ID when needed, and works with transportation vendors to understand whether requests can be met and communicate with the parent/guardian to confirm any stop changes.
  • Communicate late bus or bus route reassignments from transportation vendors to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with bus arrival and dismissal by directing buses, ensuring students get on the bus safely, and communicating with key stakeholders.
