Purpose: To assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with community integration and connecting them with local resources. Sunrise is one of the largest, private 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations in the country dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Much of the organization’s early growth can be attributed to assisting state agencies with deinstitutionalization efforts, and in more recent years, Sunrise has welcomed smaller companies in need of assistance or support into the Sunrise Group. As a result, over the last 60 years Sunrise has increased the number of persons served from 50 people in just South Florida to over 1,400 across several states with over 2,500 exceptional employees.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete the required pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and car insurance which meets company standards for approved driver status
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work extremely well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive situations with tact, kindness, and professionalism

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains relationships with members of the community.
  • Plans, implements, and organizes events and volunteers to advance the mission and goals of the company.
  • Organizes community outreach programs.
  • Uses social media to coordinate community relations.
  • Responds to inquiries from stakeholders.
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes special events for the people we support.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
