About The Position

Overview: The Compensation & Benefits manager is responsible for the design, administration and communication of Denison University's Compensation and Benefit programs. This individual will play a critical and strategic role in helping to ensure that benefit and pay programs are accurate, efficient, understandable, compliant and promote and exceptional employee experience. The Manager of Compensation & Benefits is ultimately responsible the C&B team and the daily administration of all compensation and benefit programs, as well as the broader strategy and competitiveness of Denison's pay and benefit programs. Requirements

  • 5(+) years managing compensation and benefit programs using Workday Systems.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, analyze and compare data from different sources, and identify alternative solutions. - Intermediate proficiency
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to interpret and seek information, use independent reasoning to diagnose the root cause of situations or issues, identify and test solutions and think beyond what is typical or customary. Use information to determine benefits and impact in making decision and/or recommendations. - Intermediate proficiency.
  • Project/Program/Service Management: Ability to coordinate and administer programs/project activities and protocols. Ability to manage resources, monitor activities, and assess risks and quality issues associated with the program/project. - Intermedidate proficiency.
  • Written and Oral Communications: Ability to present information to individuals or groups; ability to deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to ensure that they understand the information and the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others. Ability to impact and influence others to further the institution’s strategic objectives. - Intermediate proficiency
  • Technical, Computer, and Software Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and basic databases and software. - Intermediate proficiency
  • Familiarity with Workday - Intermediate proficieny

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all benefit and compensation programs including all health and welfare plans and Retirement Plans.
  • Manage Open Enrollment planning and execution, including communications, vendor coordination and Workday testing.
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of our Benefit plans and recommend changes that reflect the needs or our employees, applicable legal requirements and market best practices.
  • Manage relationships with outside providers, consultants and brokers to ensure cost effective, high quality and cost effective services.
  • Lead the communication to and education of participants regarding Total Reward programs (e.g. Open Enrollment, Retirement Plan participation, Merit Increases, etc.).
  • Ensure that all Rewards programs comply with applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.
  • Support and prepare documentation for annual 5500 filings and any audits.
  • conduct and/or facilitate internal audits and prepare the necessary documents to enable outside auditors to complete their work.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and strengthen data integrity.
  • Develop and support reporting and dashboards to provide actionable insights to HR leadership.
  • Generate and analyze reporting and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness, identify trends and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
