Position Summary: OPEX is a global leader in robotic warehouse automation system design, development, manufacturing, production, installation, and service. We offer a vibrant, collaborative, and entrepreneurial work environment with team members who care about producing quality products. OPEX Corporation is currently looking for a Compliance Engineer. This position reports to the Department Manager of Electrical Engineering and Compliance – Warehouse Automation. This will be a hands-on role where time will be spent as a subject matter expert, guiding, driving and executing Compliance related activities while working alongside the other members of the Compliance team. This position would be located on-site at the Mooretown, NJ located in southern NJ within commuting distance of Philadelphia and its suburbs. The successful candidate will be a part of a growing team and evolve the associated processes, while operating within an established, rapidly growing business. The objective of this role is to ensure OPEX Warehouse Automation systems, which include software and hardware products, are designed and implemented in a way that is fully compliant with applicable domestic and international engineering-related standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 5-10 years of relevant experience focused on engineering compliance, ideally in a product development organization
  • Proven track record of successfully attaining engineering quality and/or compliance goals, and developing and executing engineering quality and/or compliance programs
  • Familiarity with a range of domestic and nondomestic mechanical and electrical engineering Requirements (e.g., UL, Machinery Directive, Radio, EMC (EN 61000), Functional Safety (EN62061 and ISO13849), Functional Safety (EN 61508), Risk Assessments (ISO 12100), etc.) is strongly desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate engineering quality or compliance issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interacting with Certification agencies (TUV-Rheinland, TUV-SUD, Exida, UL, etc.) is a big plus
  • Familiarity with an array of domestic and nondomestic engineering-related environmental, health, and safety Requirements (e.g., OSHA, European RoHS, REACH, Batteries/WEEE, etc.) is preferred
  • Knowledge of production planning, manufacturing methods and procedures, and manufacturing quality is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Compliance activities for Opex Warehouse Automation products across key stakeholders such as product management, project managers, engineering, legal and external testing and certification vendors.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission to regulators, customers, and other parties of requirement-related flings, certifications, reports, and other materials and information
  • Align certification methodologies with industry best practices and as required by regulation and compliance standards
  • Define organizational compliance training opportunities and requirements
  • Build a culture that encourages design and development for quality and compliance, starting in the concept phase
  • Identify domestic and non-domestic engineering compliance requirements such as mechanical/electrical, environmental, health and safety
  • Participate and ultimately lead risk analysis activities for new and existing Opex products
  • Work with engineering teams to identify aspects of product design which affect safety and EMC compliance - advising teams accordingly of required design changes.
  • Present, discuss, and review safety and compliance specifications in collaborative, cross-functional team environment
  • Increase organizational knowledge of Functional Safety and other Compliance topics (ex: EMC, Electrical Safety, Country specific requirements)
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed
