Summary: The Multi-Modality Technologist II provides diagnostic imaging in multiple specialties in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Maintains MHS clinical competencies and regularly practices in each of the alternate imaging disciplines.

  • Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to build and foster positive relationships. The incumbent must be able to lead others and take appropriate action when required.
  • Required Work Experience: A combination of three (3) years of technologist experience in advanced modalities in a hospital setting.
  • Registered as a Technologist (RT) and registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in two (2) of the following within one (1) year of hire date: Computed Tomography (CT), or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), or Nuclear Medicine (NM) or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains competency in at least two advanced imaging modalities. Advanced imaging modalities include Nuclear Medicine (NM), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI).
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) taking appropriate action to resolve image quality issues.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • Assists with preparation and administration of contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Takes on call shift responsibilities as required by the department.
  • Charges appropriately for all supplies used for procedure(s).
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
