About The Position

Job Summary Applies extensive knowledge of principles, theories and concepts and industry practices and standards in the area of configuration management. Oversees the configuration management system and processes throughout the change request lifecycle, ensuring accurate documentation, tracking, and implementation of changes using appropriate tools and processes. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems requiring independent judgment and ingenuity to modify standards and procedures relative to planning and directing activities concerned with configuration management. Lead Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) meetings and associated reviews that are necessary to determine the impact of proposed engineering changes; maintain the CCB process from change initiation to final release. Designs and develops Configuration Management Plans (CMPs) for existing and new programs that will include configuration management/planning, configuration identification, configuration change management, configuration status accounting, and configuration verification and audits. Creates and maintain configuration management policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001), regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, EASA), and company objectives for aircraft systems and components. Maintain configuration management tools and databases to ensure data integrity and compliance including weekly change metrics and other reports to be presented to engineering, other departments and executive management. Develop, maintain and present CCB training materials and work instructions. Support internal and external audits of the configuration management system. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and technical support teams to define configuration requirements, document specifications, and maintain configuration data repositories. Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. Engineering or related field
  • If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • 5 - 7 or more year(s) Related experience and/or training; preferably configuration management experience in the aviation industry; familiarity with ERP systems, SAP knowledge a plus.
  • Communicates effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms.
  • Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups.
  • Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates advanced skills in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Proficiency in managing change control processes and leading CCBs.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and other data.
  • A strong understanding of aircraft components, configuration management tools and practices, and industry and airworthiness regulations.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure while meeting both inflexible and shifting deadlines.
