About The Position

The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all phases of construction projects from initiation to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance. The Construction Manager will collaborate closely with project stakeholders, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and architects to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field from an ABET accredited institution
  • 10 + years related experience, including commercial construction management experience and experience working with public entities or related roles
  • Knowledge of CPM schedule analysis and applicable construction codes and standards
  • Ability to work safely in a construction environment while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards
  • Guides and mentors others, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement. Encourages adaptability, resilience, and professional growth within teams
  • Effectively interacts with diverse technical and business audiences. Communicates complex messages clearly, ensuring understanding across various stakeholders
  • Identifies issues, analyzes risks, and develops resolution strategies. Facilitates consensus-building and effective conflict resolution
  • Monitors individual and team morale, evaluates effectiveness, and drives improvements. Promotes a collaborative environment focused on shared accomplishments
  • Produces clear, audience-specific technical and business documentation. Reviews and provides constructive feedback on written materials
  • Skilled in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet-based tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
  • Memberships and accreditations from the following and similar societies, associations, and organizations: American Concrete Institution, American Institution of Steel Construction, American Society of Testing Materials is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily construction operations
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure alignment on project requirements and expectations
  • Review and approve project plans, blueprints, and specifications
  • Monitor construction progress, proactively addressing delays or issues
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards
  • Conduct regular site inspections to evaluate progress and resolve issues
  • Prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services
  • Lead and mentor construction staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and performance excellence
  • Negotiate contracts, change orders, and dispute resolutions when necessary
