About The Position

The Aptim Construction Management (CM) Internship Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the construction field while supporting ongoing project needs. Interns will be exposed to various departments, including Construction Management, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), and Quality Control (QC). The program emphasizes mentorship, innovation, real-world experience, and professional development to ensure a mutually beneficial learning environment. This is a temporary position. The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12-week experience running from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026. Interns are required to be fully available during Week 1 (May 18-22) and Week 12 (August 3-7) of the program. Week 12 includes company-paid travel to an APTIM office (location to be announced) for an end-of-internship celebration. Interns are expected to minimize absences to ensure a meaningful program experience. The program observes Memorial Day (May 25, 2026) and Independence Day (July 3, 2026, observed).

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited program with the following programs: Construction Management Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Environmental Engineering Safety Management Occupational Health and Safety Business Administration (project coordination, logistics, or operations focus) Forestry (construction interest or transition focus) Project Management
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be local to the worksite or willing to relocate (no relocation support)
  • Be able to work in an outdoor environment
  • Basic understanding of construction processes and terminology
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take direction
  • Willingness to work in an active construction site environment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with platforms such as Procore, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit/BIM 360
  • Field data collection tools (e.g., PlanGrid, Raken, ArcGIS)
  • Safety management apps or mobile inspection software
  • Interest in sustainability, automation, or digital transformation in construction
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926

Responsibilities

  • Shadow Project Managers (PMs), Construction Managers (CMs), and HSE/QC professionals
  • Support construction site activities and assist in field reporting
  • Contribute ideas for implementing new technologies, software, or methods
  • Attend and support meetings, audits, and field inspections
  • Assist in reviewing construction documents, control plans, and specifications
  • Perform estimating, procurement tracking, and basic schedule updates
  • Help streamline reporting processes through digital tools and automation
  • Develop scopes of work for subcontractors
  • Assist with subcontractor coordination and change order development
  • Review and understand equipment maintenance and repair logs
