The Consultant, Learning & Development plays an important role in supporting EPCOR’s commitment to safety, growth, and technical excellence. In this position, you’ll help empower employees across the organization by delivering engaging technical training and collaborating on the creation and enhancement of course content, materials, and curriculum. You’ll ensure all training aligns with legislative requirements and EPCOR’s policies, keeping programs current and effective through thoughtful updates and continuous improvement. Beyond the classroom, you’ll be a trusted guide—providing coaching, mentorship, and leadership to employees as they build strong, safe work practices that reflect EPCOR’s values. Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Degree or certification program in Education, Occupational Health & Safety, Emergency Services or an equivalent combination of qualifications.
  • Or, completion of a program in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Training and Development, Communications, Marketing, or Film/TV/Digital Media.
  • Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience, including facilitation and development/delivery of competency-based technical training courses/assessments.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and provide corrective actions.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry training practices and operational safety.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in various delivery methods and training techniques related to adult learning.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Effective time management and ability to handle conflicting priorities.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and leadership capabilities.
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong customer focus with both internal and external clients.

  • Occupational Health & Safety Program Certificate or Health & Safety Administrator Certificate is an asset.
  • Knowledge of safety code and industry/professional standards is an asset.
  • Interest and technical aptitude in all types of media: graphics, animation, text, audio, still graphics, photos, video, and 3D models.
  • Active Certifications or SME in courses such as Standard/Emergency First Aid, Respiratory Protection, SABA, Ground Disturbance, Limits of Approach, Hazard Recognition and Controls, Barricading, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Fire Extinguisher, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Plan, design, develop, and implement technical training curriculum and learning products, ensuring alignment with legislative and corporate standards and EPCOR’s compliance and conformance training requirements.
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of new/existing training programs, making recommendations for improvements as required.
  • Coordinate primary research and source relevant secondary research to support course planning and evaluation. Interpret data and provide summaries.
  • Write and present technical information clearly and concisely based on the audience.
  • Program Delivery: Deliver and facilitate technical training through various delivery methods, such as classroom, workshops, and individual sessions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on instructional design, eLearning development, and media production.
  • Certify employees upon successful completion of technical training courses, developing follow-up strategies to correct training deficiencies if needed.
  • Records/Documentation: Manage training schedule documents. Schedule dates with internal and external vendors, coordinate with supervisors, business units and other stakeholders and support enrolment of employees into training, send out course confirmations.
  • Manage training facilities, including material availability and supply availability. Coordinate with appropriate groups.
  • Update Learning Management System (LMS) with employe completion records/files.
  • Policy/Research: Ensure that safety programs reflect government laws, regulations, policies, procedures and best practices. Extrapolate and translate information from company and government documentation into effective training that will ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Relationships: Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients, building and maintaining strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Work with appropriate functional groups to execute training smoothly and achieve desired results. Ensure training content is engaging and relevant to EPCOR employees.
