About The Position

GHSP is currently hiring a Continuous Improvement & Industrial Engineering Leader to join our Operations Leadership team in Grand Haven.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent required.
  • 5-10 years of experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques and tools.
  • Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Power BI, MES data).

Responsibilities

  • Cycle Time & Work Content Analysis
  • Conduct time studies and work measurement to establish accurate cycle times.
  • Analyze bottlenecks and process constraints.
  • Balance lines to improve flow and throughput.
  • Standardize work and define optimal task sequences.
  • Headcount & Labor Optimization
  • Perform labor utilization analysis to identify inefficiencies.
  • Define staffing models based on demand and takt time.
  • Support workforce planning aligned with production schedules.
  • Identify automation and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Capacity Planning & Throughput Optimization
  • Develop and maintain capacity models for production lines.
  • Ensure equipment and labor capacity support forecasted demand.
  • Identify constraints and recommend capital investments.
  • Support new program launches with capacity readiness analysis.
  • Data Analysis & KPI Management
  • Track and analyze KPIs (OEE, PPH, utilization, scrap, downtime).
  • Build dashboards and visual tools to support decision-making.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to plant leadership.
  • Process Improvement & Lean Implementation
  • Lead initiatives to eliminate waste and improve flow.
  • Apply lean tools including value stream mapping, standard work, line balancing, and kaizen.
  • Support projects that reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Layout & Material Flow Optimization
  • Improve plant layout and material handling routes.
  • Reduce travel distance, motion waste, and handling time.
  • Support visual factory and 5S initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Materials, and Finance teams.
  • Support quoting, cost reduction initiatives, and productivity planning.
  • Assist in ROI analysis for automation and capital improvements.
