About The Position

The Continuous Improvement Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for driving operational excellence while advancing environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement culture across the facility. This role integrates continuous improvement methodologies with environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and ESG-focused initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and environmental performance. The position serves as a key resource supporting regulatory programs, tracking sustainability metrics, and ensuring improvements are standardized, sustained, and aligned with business and environmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, operations, business, supply chain, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1+ years of experience in continuous improvement, operations, environmental programs, sustainability, or manufacturing-related roles
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability metrics, and compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, and use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data from multiple sources
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to lead through influence and drive sustainable change in ambiguous environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments

Responsibilities

  • Identify, prioritize, and support improvement opportunities that enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost reduction, sustainability, and operational efficiency
  • Analyze operational, environmental, and production data to develop actionable improvement plans and track results
  • Manage and sustain CI-related programs, metrics, and visual management systems
  • Support investigation of safety, quality, and environmental incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation as it pertains to facility manufacturing and operations
  • Support capital and process improvement projects that deliver measurable operational and sustainability benefits
  • Maintain and support environmental compliance programs, permits, reporting, and renewals, including but not limited to stormwater, air emissions, wastewater, hazardous waste, and chemical management
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring, data tracking, and reporting related to energy use, water consumption, waste streams, recycling, and emissions
  • Support sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction, recycling expansion, energy efficiency, water conservation, and environmentally preferable materials
  • Track and report sustainability metrics and progress toward environmental and ESG goals
  • Assist with customer, regulatory, and ESG audits by gathering documentation, maintaining records, and supporting on-site inspections
  • Monitor chemical inventory systems, SDS management, and chemical hazard assessments in coordination with safety and operations teams
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, safety, engineering, and quality teams to implement and sustain improvements
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external agencies, auditors, vendors, and contractors as required
  • Support and/or deliver training related to environmental awareness, sustainability practices, and compliance programs
  • Assist with development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and standard work related to environmental programs
