About The Position

This position is based at our Williamsburg, VA facility. The Technician will be responsible for implementing and maintaining workplace organization standards based on the 5S methodology (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain). This role ensures that work areas are clean, organized, and optimized for efficiency, safety, and productivity. The technician will work closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must have a High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution; technical certification preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of one year experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or 5S methodology.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Richmond, VA will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Certification in 5S or Continuous Improvement
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools (Kaizen, TPM, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Implement 5S Principles: Apply and maintain 5S standards across designated work areas.
  • Auditing & Compliance: Conduct regular 5S audits, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are completed within benchmark software.
  • Visual Management: Develop and maintain visual controls such as labels, signage, and floor markings.
  • Training & Coaching: Educate team members on 5S principles and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present 5S performance reports to management.
  • Safety & Quality: Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during 5S activities.
  • Develop: Standard Work procedures in conjunction with manufacturing.
  • Drive standardization of work areas as applicable.
