About The Position

The Controls Engineer Intern collaborates with various teams to deliver customized automation solutions that meet customer requirements. This is a temporary pre-entry level engineering position. Focus on completing assigned project tasks and working closely with your team. Develop your technical skills and knowledge to improve your capabilities in providing solutions.

Requirements

  • Working on a degree in engineering.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel to customer and vendor facilities; approximately 25% travel required.
  • Must be a good fit culturally for a family-owned enterprise.

Nice To Haves

  • Background or training in industrial control systems is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, etc. is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems safely.
  • Configure and troubleshoot sensors, instruments, valves, and VFDs.
  • Design, build, configure, and troubleshoot control, IO, drive, and HMI panels.
  • Work with Electrical Designers to create and update CAD drawings.
  • Assist others in PLC and HMI application design.
  • Basic PLC programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic HMI programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • MS Windows configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Server and workstation configuration and troubleshooting.
  • OIT configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Software application installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist others in network architecture design.
  • Basic network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Switch configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Follow all MG Newell and customer safe work practices while on site and in the shop.
  • Assist others in the quoting, planning, design, and closing phases of a project.
  • Perform build, test, and commission phase tasks assigned by the project lead.
  • Regularly attend internal and external project meetings.
  • Remain up to date on safety training and certification.
  • Submit weekly timesheets accurately and on time.
  • Follow MG Newell procedures.
  • Detail oriented in all work.
  • Assist others in continuous improvement activites.
  • Promote an engaging work environment by exhibiting a positive attitude, helping where needed, and being an active member of the company.
