About The Position

As a Controls Technician at ENTEK, you will play a hands-on role in bringing advanced industrial equipment to life in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will apply your knowledge of electronic theory, instrumentation, and test equipment to start up, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize the control systems that support production operations. This position works closely with Controls Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and other technical teams to install, test, and maintain control systems for complex manufacturing equipment. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with innovative automation technologies while contributing directly to the success of our Terre Haute facility.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (AA/AS) in Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field OR Minimum of two years of related experience and/or technical training OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic computer knowledge and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Ability to design and perform testing procedures for complex equipment

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Controls Engineers to review machine and equipment functions for new projects and installations
  • Review electrical schematics and assist with installation and startup of control systems
  • Install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot electrical instrumentation, electronic controls, and related equipment
  • Diagnose wiring and electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as multimeters
  • Perform I/O checkouts and testing on newly installed equipment
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and network-related control system issues
  • Install and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and associated communication software
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs, I/O hardware, and drive systems including Siemens S120 and G120C drives
  • Develop or modify documentation related to testing, startup, and commissioning processes
  • Work with engineering and assembly teams to improve system performance and operational efficiency
  • Direct activities of outside contractors working on assigned equipment
  • Document project hours and technical work accurately
  • Provide occasional after-hours technical support as needed
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and 5S practices
  • Maintain safe operations by following all company safety procedures and regulations
