About The Position

The Machine Operator performs a variety of activities in the production of pressure-sensitive paper. Primary responsibilities encompass machine operation, routine maintenance, and quality control to ensure seamless production processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 0-4 years of manufacturing operating experience.
  • Must be willing and available to train on multiple pieces of coating equipment.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of required machine station(s) prior to obtaining operator status.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Safety - demonstrated ability to follow safe working practices, rules, and instructions
  • Attention to detail - must have demonstrated precision in documentation
  • Critical Thinking - demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Team Player - demonstrated strong collaborative skills to work effectively with other areas/teams.
  • Math - demonstrated clear understanding and application of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, including fractions and decimals.
  • Communication - demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills are required. You will need to communicate and collaborate with colleagues working different shifts, ensuring smooth shift-exchange and sharing relevant information.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability - demonstrated regular attendance is required. The ability to adapt to varying shift lengths and workdays (8-12 hour shifts and occasional weekends).
  • Stamina - often involves extended periods of activity and concentration.
  • Time Management - demonstrated effective time management skills to stay focused, prioritize tasks, and maintain productivity throughout the entire shift.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure stock being staged at the machine is the proper stock for the order being run.
  • Inspect adhesive coating being used for quality, consistency, and matching order specifications.
  • Prepare materials for the production process.
  • Inspect and change adhesive filter elements as required.
  • Load and unload material from the glue melter machine.
  • Monitor the machine with other coater operators to ensure it is operating properly.
  • Operate various powered industrial vehicles and equipment (forklift, hoist, etc.).
  • Set priorities for job assignments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the coater (dies, gravures, rolls, etc.).
  • Report all machine and product problems to the supervisor or manager as needed.
  • Assist in machine thread-up / web break recovery.
  • Perform all 5S activities assigned in the time frame provided per procedures.
  • Maintain and account for assigned tools and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
