A deep understanding of ingredients, presentation, and timing is essential, along with a collaborative mindset and respect for the hierarchy of the kitchen. The candidate should demonstrate passion for hospitality and take pride in contributing to an elevated guest experience through consistently exceptional cuisine. At L’Américain, cooks are expected to execute daily prep and service with precision and consistency under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, with a focus on traditional American cuisine. Proficiency in preparing classic American dishes such as burgers, chicken, flatbreads, and seasonal comfort food favorites is essential. Experience with scratch cooking techniques, grilling, roasting, and working with fresh, locally sourced ingredients is highly valued. Key responsibilities include participating in line checks, maintaining cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas, and ensuring prep and service align with the Chef’s standards. Cooks are expected to follow all health and safety regulations, support daily sanitation routines, and assist in educating front-of-house staff on daily specials. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential to success in this role. This position is for nights only!!!!! Requirements
- Knowledge of health and sanitation standards
- Proper cooking techniques and knife skills
- Food Knowledge
- Lift up to 25 - 30 lbs
- Stand for long periods
- Navigate crowded spaces
- Flexibility in bending and reaching
- Adaptability to casino conditions, including: Bright lights Noise
- Able to obtain/maintain necessary licenses and/or certifications as required by local gaming regulations.
- Able to obtain/maintain Food Handlers Serv Safe certifications as required by the Lake County Health Department regulations.
Nice To Haves
- 1-2 years of previous pizza cooking experience is preferred
- Bi-lingual is a plus
