About The Position

The Coordinator, Student Leadership and Development is a dynamic educator who facilitates the growth and development of student leaders. This role is responsible for the direct implementation of the college's comprehensive leadership curriculum, including workshops, retreats, and conferences. The coordinator provides hands-on support and advising for the Student Leadership Institute, the Student Ambassadors program, and the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), helping students build resilience and purpose. This work is foundational to creating a transformative student experience, in alignment with the College’s 8 Student Learning Domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Communication, Organizational Leadership, or a related field. (Official transcripts required.)
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a higher education setting with direct involvement in leadership development, student activities, orientation, or a related area.
  • Experience facilitating workshops or training sessions.
  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required.
  • Working knowledge of leadership theories and student development principles.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and energize a student audience.
  • Excellent advising and mentoring skills, with a passion for helping students identify and achieve their potential.
  • Strong organizational and logistical coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology for presentations, communication, and program management.
  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and a commitment to serving students.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience using a student engagement or leadership development platform.
  • Experience with cohort-based leadership programs or advising a peer mentor/ambassador program.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Workshop Facilitation and Curriculum Delivery: Facilitate a variety of leadership workshops and training sessions for students, RSO officers, and other campus groups using established curriculum. Assist the Senior Manager in the research and development of new and relevant leadership topics and activities. Coordinate the scheduling, promotion, and logistical needs for all leadership workshops.
  • Program Coordination and Student Support: Provide day-to-day coordination and support for the Student Leadership Institute, the Student Ambassadors program, and the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). Serve as a primary point of contact and advisor for students participating in these programs, offering guidance, mentorship, and support. Manage the application, selection, and onboarding processes for cohort-based leadership programs. Provide transportation (Must be Van Driver Approved) to and from programs, events, and activities, on-site or off campus.
  • Event and Logistical Management: Coordinate the logistics for large-scale leadership events, such as student leadership conferences and retreats, including travel arrangements, materials preparation, and on-site support. Assist in the planning and execution of student leadership recognition events.
  • Assessment and Data Collection: Administer and collect program assessments, including pre/post-tests, reflection assignments, and satisfaction surveys. Track student participation in leadership programs and maintain accurate records. Assist in compiling data for departmental reports on student learning and program effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Outreach: Promote leadership development opportunities to students across the college through various channels. Collaborate with campus partners to embed leadership development opportunities within other programs and initiatives.
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other job duties as required. This includes cross training across other SLE areas when applicable. Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year. All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours. People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development. Perform other duties not listed as assigned.
  • Exercises full discretion and decision-making authority in the recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development & termination of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, budgetary constraints, and workforce planning strategies.
  • Drive high performance by administering the performance management process timely, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and retention.
