About The Position

ExplorUS is a family-owned company with nearly 30 years of experience operating National, State, and local park concessions. We’re seeking a Corporate Controller to lead company‑wide accounting operations in a fast‑growing, multi‑location environment. Reporting to the CFO, this role oversees a 15‑person accounting team and ensures accurate, timely financial reporting across an organization of over 4,000 employees operating over 175 locations across the U.S., while driving process improvement and scalable growth. Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to utilize critical thinking and problems solving skills, with clear attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with strong project management, analytical, and self-directed capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, with the ability to partner effectively with leadership, employees, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public accounting, retail, and hospitality is preferred but not required.
  • Oracle NetSuite experience is preferred.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, including review of journal entries and preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Oversee periodic financial reporting and analysis, ensuring timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.
  • Lead and develop the accounting team, including hiring, training, performance management, and oversight of financial reporting and budgeting activities.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Treasury, Retail, IT, AP, and Payroll to achieve financial and operational objectives, ensuring teams are trained to support shared responsibilities.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of all revenue‑generating activity across company sites in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee fixed asset and lease accounting, including subledgers, ensuring accurate capitalization and reporting aligned with contracts, budgets, and US GAAP.
  • Establish and maintain accounting SOPs to support strong internal controls and consistent close and reporting processes.
  • Monitor site‑level performance and provide ad hoc financial analysis to support leadership planning and initiatives.
  • Manage external audits and serve as the primary liaison with auditors to ensure regulatory and reporting compliance.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and act as a liaison between corporate accounting and operations to proactively resolve issues.
