We employ more than 3000 people across our headquarters in Santa Ana, California and offices in New Jersey, Texas, Florida, Japan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and France. We’re looking for a Corporate Controller to join our Financial Operations leadership team and serve as the senior accounting leader for Collectors. In this critical role, you will own the integrity of our financial statements, lead the controllership function across multiple business units and international entities, and build a world-class accounting organization. You’ll oversee general ledger accounting, revenue recognition across our grading and marketplace businesses, accounts payable, global payroll and equity administration, international accounting, and financial reporting and technical accounting. This is a high-visibility role with significant scope and complexity—spanning multiple subsidiaries (PSA, PCGS, Beckett, SGC, and more), diverse revenue streams, and a rapidly growing global footprint. You’ll report to the SVP, Financial Operations and work from our Santa Ana, CA corporate office headquarters.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior controllership or equivalent leadership role (Corporate Controller, VP of Accounting, or similar).
  • Active CPA required.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, including complex areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), business combinations, foreign currency, and stock-based compensation.
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidation and international accounting operations; comfort navigating statutory reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling accounting teams in high-growth, multi-subsidiary environments; experience integrating acquired businesses is highly valued.
  • Strong command of internal controls design and SOX compliance frameworks; experience preparing for or operating within a public-company or IPO-readiness environment preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite or comparable enterprise ERP systems.
  • Excellent communicator with the executive presence to partner effectively with senior leadership, Board members, equity sponsors, and external auditors.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and solution-driven, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience in consumer services, e-commerce, or marketplace business models is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Building: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing controllership organization of 30+ professionals spanning general ledger, revenue accounting, accounts payable, payroll, international accounting, and financial reporting. Recruit, hire, onboard, and mentor key leadership hires including Directors of Order-to-Cash, Global Payroll & Equity Administration, International Controllership, and Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting. Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the accounting function; run regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and development plans for your leadership team. Partner closely with the Assistant Controller and functional leads to ensure seamless execution of day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Financial Close & Reporting: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process across all Collectors entities; drive continuous improvement in close timelines, accuracy, and efficiency. Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including complex areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), foreign currency translation, intercompany eliminations, and stock-based compensation. Oversee all general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries; maintain a robust close calendar with clear task ownership, dependencies, and escalation paths. Prepare and review financial reporting packages for leadership, the Board of Directors, and equity sponsors.
  • Revenue Accounting & Order-to-Cash: Oversee revenue recognition across all business lines: core grading revenue (PSA and PCGS, domestic and international), ancillary grading revenue (Beckett, SGC, eBay AG, subscriptions), and marketplace revenue. Ensure proper application of ASC 606 across diverse and evolving revenue streams; lead technical accounting analysis for new products, pricing models, and partnership structures. Provide strategic oversight of the Order-to-Cash cycle, including billing, cash application, and collections.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment across all accounting processes; serve as the primary owner of SOX-readiness initiatives within the controllership function. Partner with Internal Audit and external auditors to support annual audits, quarterly reviews, and any regulatory examinations. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and international accounting and reporting regulations. Collaborate with Tax and Treasury leadership on transfer pricing, intercompany agreements, and cash management strategies.
  • International & Multi-Entity Operations: Stand up and oversee the international controllership function covering operations in China, Japan, and Europe (initially outsourced with plans to build in-house capability). Manage multi-entity consolidation across domestic and international subsidiaries; ensure accurate intercompany accounting, currency translation, and elimination entries. Support the integration of acquired businesses (e.g., Beckett, SGC) into Collectors’ accounting infrastructure and control framework.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Partner with the Director of Business Systems to optimize and enhance the ERP environment (NetSuite) and supporting financial systems. Drive automation, standardization, and scalability across accounting workflows to support Collectors’ rapid growth trajectory. Identify and implement best-in-class processes, tools, and technologies to modernize the controllership function.
