About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! This posting is for multiple vacancies: positions 60067092, 60073048. This position will be located at the NC Correctional institution for Women with offenders of all custody levels. North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state's primary prison for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders. The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in testing or interviewing, and/or counseling; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented knowledge of methods used to evaluate or assess an individual for treatment or program services.
  • Documented experience with report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and analyzing of casework
  • Analyzing social, criminal, medical and psychological information from offenders in order to develop correctional case summaries and correctional intervention plans for the offenders.
  • Providing management with the necessary tools to make decisions for offender security level, housing and work assignment, as well as program activity.
  • Reviewing recommendations focusing on maintaining safety and security for the offender, as well as protecting the public.
  • Providing the system with pertinent information about offenders in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Works independently and receives instruction from the Correctional Diagnostic Center Director through verbal or written information.
